Double whammie!

Sick. I am sick. Friday at work I started to sneeze, and I thought, "am I getting a cold?" Surely there is no way, as I just got over a cold about 2 weeks ago. By Friday night I was feeling lousy, but thought with fresh juice, airborne and Emergen-C, I'd be able to kick it. I woke up Saturday morning feeling even worse. I did have a girls day at the salon planned for Saturday, so there was no way in the world I was going to miss that.

I headed to Portland drugged up on Dayquil. That stuff is truly amazing-I was able to function and enjoy the day, which was so fun. Nothing like a little girl time getting a pedicure. About 4 o'clock the medicine wore off and I was miserable. So, I decided it was time to go home. I just took it easy at home and we ordered Mexican take out for dinner.

Before bed I was feeling good, and I told Eric, "I think I'm going to feel better tomorrow." I should have realized that was the calm before the storm.

I woke up about 2 am with the some of the worst pain in my left ear I had ever experienced. I made it through the night, and then headed to urgent care first thing Sunday morning, with Tyler in tow....

Now, going to Urgent Care with a 3 year old is not an ideal situation-luckily, we have a portable DVD player and I took it along. Tyler was an angel. So many strangers commented to me that was a great idea-bring a movie for the child to watch. Ha ha, I guess whatever works when you are sick.

After an exam, the Dr. said I had an ear infection and strep throat. I was surprised by the strep throat diagnosis, but then realized that my throat was really swollen and it did hurt to swallow. Who knew? He gave me some antibiotics and pain killers (I guess for the pain in my ear?). Trying to find a pharmacy open on a Sunday in this little town was a challenge. Thank goodness for Safeway! And they were so fast. I think they realized my time was limited with Tyler in a store. I might be switching pharmacies, they were awesome!

So now we are just chillin' at home. I thought I'd feel better today-but not yet. Sorry if I'm complaining, it's just not any fun being sick.

On top of things, it sounds like Eric has a really bad sinus infection. He's headed into the Doctor today. When it rains it pours. The good news is that Tyler is healthy again. He told me he likes it when Mom and Dad have colds, because he gets to watch Dora & Diego-a rare treat for him.

Hopefully, we will all be better soon!

Yes, wii have one now!

Our big news from this past week is that we have a wii! Yahoo! We have actively been trying to find one since late last summer/early fall, time escapes me. It just seems like forever. Eric was able to locate one last Friday at Target. He made a dash to the store just in time!

Needless to say we spent most of the weekend playing wii. Chloe was able to show us how everything worked. It's great when your 10 year old is the instruction manual :) It's proven to be well worth the money spent. Everyone in the family is enjoying playing-yes, even Tyler. He still needs some help, but his very patient Dad, and his ultra sweet sister are all over it. I like playing too, but more than playing, it's fun to watch the kids. I must be getting old :P

Our other big news is that our master bedroom remodel is almost complete. This weekend the last of the work should be done. I will be so glad to be back in our bedroom! It seems like a lifetime ago that we lived in that room-I guess it really only has been 2 1/2 months...but it sure has turned this house upside down. I'll be glad to get everything back in it's place and organized.

Other big family news is that I will be an Aunt again. My brother Brett and his wife Rachel are expecting baby #4 for them. Due sometime this Fall. There is nothing better than a new baby.

Eric's sister Krista just announced her engagement. Other exciting family news. Sounds like she is planning a Hawaii wedding next year, you just can't beat that.

Well, Tyler is just about done with his bath-had to wash off that fudge bar-see this weeks picture and you'll understand where I'm coming from on that one. Time to go wrestle a wet kid!

I scream, you scream, we all cream for ice cream!

Words to live by

Today on our drive home from school, Tyler told me, "Mama, we will all be happy if we just share." Perfect advice to follow - we have a lot to learn from our children.

Better

I am happy to report that everyone in the Gallinger household is back to feeling better. It's been a long couple of weeks. Chloe, then Tyler, then myself. I'm pretty sure Eric had a cold for a few days too, but I never heard him complain about it. Glad that is over!

We are back to life as busy-crazy-normal. Last night I was thinking, "gosh, I didn't get anything done today," as I was looking around at my dirty kitchen and a pile of laundry. Then I realized, I was too tired to do any of it.

My husband reminded me that I had infact had a very busy day. I took Tyler an appt in the morning, then ran errands, grocery shopping, dinner, and then off to a preschool meeting. It was 9:00 before I sat down last night. I had to stop and think, when did life become so busy? All of the sudden, I felt like an adult. I realized I was doing things that my Mom use to do. It was a really strange feeling for about 30 seconds, then my head hit the pillow and I was out :)

It sounds like Tyler is waking up from his nap, so time to sign off! Hope everyone is having a great week!

Tylers sick day...

Mr. T was sick today. Actually, he's been sick with a cold for a couple of weeks. Today was the Doctor. Ends up he had a sinus infection, poor baby. Today was the first day of antibiotics, and he still wasn't his normal self...

Celery

Tyler loves vegetables. I know, it's unheard of. When I tell people, sometimes I honestly don't think they believe me. They give me that look like, "ya sure, whatever you say." You've all had that look and I'm sure can relate to the feeling.

Every morning when Tyler gets up I ask him what he wants for breakfast. One day he said "celery." I said, "are you sure?" He said yes Mama, I want celery. So, at 8am, there he was munching on a piece of celery. I had to take a picture, because no one would ever believe me. He ate the entire piece of celery, even the leafy end. I'm wondering how much longer he is going to eat this way. He will probably grow up and be a junk food junky! Lol!
